IAB is a UK recognised qualification. The Level 1 Award in Bookkeeping is designed for those who have little or no experience of finance, and those who may be looking for a change in career. Candidates will learn the basics of Business routines and this will enable them to progress onto Level 2 with confidence.

Course Content: 

Introduction to bookkeeping:

  1. Understand the basics of double entry Bookkeeping

What are the entry requirements?

No formal qualifications, however, learners are advised to have basic Math and English skills.

Assessment Method:

Online Assignments – these are taken in class or at home and are short case study type questions with several tasks for each case study.

About the course:

The IAB Level 2 Award in Manual Bookkeeping is aimed at individuals who are already working in a Finance office and who want to capitalise on their experience and gain a qualification. Candidates will gain an in-depth knowledge of Business routines and how all types of cash and credit transactions are recorded in manual accounts. You will also learn how to complete a basic VAT return.

The IAB Level 3 Certificate in Manual Bookkeeping is designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills needed to carry out a range of day-to- day bookkeeping routines and accounting activities using a manual bookkeeping system. These bookkeeping and accounting activities include preparing financial statements for a Sole Trader or Partnership from incomplete records.

About the course:

The IAB Level 1 award in Computerised Bookkeeping is designed for those who wish to begin their studies of Computerised Bookkeeping and gain level 1 qualification within the regulated qualification framework. The use of basic computerised software Sage 50 will be covered. The qualification has been designed to appeal to individuals within the following groups:

  1. Learners starting their studies in the subject of computerised accounting from a point of no previous knowledge or experience.
  2. Learners employed at a junior level with some limited basic accounting knowledge and skills who want to formalise their competence by gaining a recognised accredited qualification in Computerised Bookkeeping.
  3. Learners returning to study and/or work after a study or career break.
  4. Learners considering a change in career.
  5. Learners considering a career as a self-employed practitioner.

About the course:

The IAB Level 1 Certificate in Payroll is specially designed for those who want to gain an understanding of basic payroll procedures as well as those who wish to become professional payroll processors.

The Level 1 qualification is mainly designed for the following candidates:

  1. Those who are new to payroll
  2. Those who wish to acquire the skills and knowledge required of payroll clerks prior to employment.
  3. Those who wish to understand the PAYE system for their own interes.
  4. Those who wish to return to working and wish to add payroll to their skills.

Course Content:

The Level 2 Certificate in Payroll qualification is specifically aimed at learners who wish to further their studies of Payroll and gain a qualification at Level 2 of the regulated qualification framework, either from a point of no previous knowledge, or having already achieved the Level 1 Award in Payroll.

The qualification will appeal to those learners who already have some practical knowledge and skills and wish to gain an accredited qualification in the subject of Payroll.
